Those who have read carefully Hermann Rauschning’s
book “Hitler Speaks” will remember him outlining Hitler’s plan, which is a plan
of three times seven years – the first seven embracing world revolution, the
second seven to create world war and the last seven years to devote himself to
the greatest task, prophecy, the proclamation of the new faith, based on the
revolutionary doctrine of civilisation. “Richard Wagner revealed it”, Hitler
said. He did not mean the Wagner of the music. “Wagner”, he emphasised, “had
really proclaimed the eternal tragedy of human destiny, he was the supreme
prophetic figure among Germans. He had discovered that verything written by him
was in agreement with his own innermost, subconscious and dormant conviction”.
“The problem is this”, cried Hitler. “How can we
arrest racial decay? Shall we form simply a select company of the really
initiated? An Order, ther Brotherhood of Templars round the Holy Grail of pure
blood? We must interpret ‘Parcival’ in a totally different way to the general
conception. It is not the Christian-Schopenhauerist religion of compassion that
is acclaimed, but pure, noble blood, in the protection and glorification of
whose purity the brotherhood of the initiated have come together.
“The eternal life granted by the Grail is only for the
truly pure and noble” Hitler continued, in outlining his scheme. “Our
revolution is the exact counterpart of the French Revolution, and no Jewish God
will save the democracies from it. There is a stern time coming. I shall see to
it. Only the tough and manly element will endure. And the world will assume a
new aspect. But the day will come when we shall make a pact with these new men
in England, France and America. We shall make it when they fall into line with
the vast process of the ordering of the world, and voluntarily play their part
in it. There will not be much left then of the cliches of nationalism. Instead
there will be an understanding between the various language elements of the one
good ruling race.
“But there is one dangerous element and that is the
element of Freemasons, with all its abominations. They form a sort of priestly
nobility. They have developed an esoteric doctrine. Our party has also got to
become an Order, the hierarchical Order of a secular priesthood. But there
cannot be two chosen people. We are God’s people”. Hitler banged the
table.
“Creation is not yet at the end”, he went on.
Biologically regarded, man has clearly arrived at a turning point. The existing
type of man is passing into the biological stage of atrophy. The old type of
man will have but a stunted existence. All creative energy will be concentrated
in the now one. The two types will rapidly diverge from one another. One will
sink to a sub-human race and the other rise far above the mob of to-day. I
might call the two varieties the God-man and the mass-animal. Man is becoming
God – that is the simple fact. Man is God in the making. Man has eternally to
strain at his limitations. The moment he relaxes and contents himself with them
he decays and falls below the human level. He becomes a quasi-beast. Gods and
beasts, that is what our world is made of.
“My teaching is hard”, continued Hitler. “Weakness has
to be knocked out of them. In my Ordensburgen a youth will grow up before which
the world will shrink back. A violently active, dominating, intropid, brutal
youth – that is what I am after. My youth must be indifferent to pain. There
must be no weakness or tenderness in it. Strong and handsome must my young men
be. I intend to have an athletic youth. I shall oradicate the thousands of
years of human domestication. Then I shall have in front of me the pure and
noble natural material. With that I can create the new Order.
“I will have no intellectual training. Knowledge is
ruin to my young men. I would have them learn only what takes their fancy. But
one thing they must learn – self-command. They shall learn to overcome the fear
of death under the severest tests. That is the intrepid and heroic stage of
youth. Out of it comes the stage of the free man, the man who is the substance
and essence of the world, the creative man, the god-man. In my Ordensburgen
there will stand as a statue for worship the figure of magnificent,
self-ordaining god-man. It will prepare the young men for their coming period
of ripe manhood. In order completely to fulfil his mission, he must die a
martyr’s death”. “Yes”, Hitler repeated, in the hour of supreme peril I must
sacrifice for the people”.
Going
back to where I started with Hitler’s twenty one year’s plan – und I have
purposely dwelt explicitly on the scheme which resembles in such a dangerous
way Abdrushin’s revelation, which is spiritual, while Hitler’s is material – I
will dismiss this unpleasant subject with a last quotation from the Author of
“Hitler Speaks” – (I mean Rauschning, who once was an intimate of Hitler, but
became his strong adversary). He concludes: “With the proclamation of the new
faith, Hitler’s work will really be completed. For if the Christian era is now
to give place to the thousand years of the coming Hitlerian era, it will not be
because of an external political order, but because of the revelation of the
new doctrine of salvation for which man-kind has been waiting. I, the writer of
these lines, ask, will it really come to that? Will Hitler, who thinks himself
greater than Frederick II, greater than Napoleon, oven greater than Caesar, be
the man who will fulfil it? I rather doubt it. I even doubt the righteousness
of his cause.
